Adding alternative text (alt text or alt tags) to your images is important for both search engine optimization (SEO) and web accessibility. It helps search engines understand what your image is about and allows visually impaired users using screen readers to navigate your website.
Depending on where the image is located on your website, alt text is handled in one of three ways:
For system-wide dynamic images—such as your agency logo or team member profile photos—you do not need to do anything manually. The system automatically generates and applies dynamic alt text to these images behind the scenes using the team member's name or your company details.
When you are adding or editing photos for a listing, you can customize the alt text directly from the image tab .
How it works: Each photo upload box includes a dedicated Alt field.
What to do: Simply type a brief description of the image (e.g., "Modern open-plan kitchen with island bench") into that field.
For step-by-step instructions on navigating the photo uploader, please refer to our guide: Adding Photos and Floorplans to a Listing.
If you are inserting an image directly into a web page or blog post using the text editor in the Website Manager, the text editor uses the "Description" field for alt text.
How it works: When you insert an image into a text section of your web page, using the image insert tool, look for the Description field in the image properties on right of the Media Manager window.
What to do: Enter your alt text into this Description field. The system automatically converts this text into the HTML alt="..." tag code for your live website.
