Register your SMS Sender ID

Register your SMS Sender ID

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has introduced rules to help protect Australians from SMS scams. Because of this, the SMS provider we use to send messages through Aro now requires all Sender IDs to be verified before they can be used.

How to register and verify your Sender ID?
  1. Within your Aro account click the "Setup" icon

  2. Click "Agencies & Offices" and then edit the relevant agency

  3. Click the SMS tab and then click Register a sender ID

  4. Complete the form

  5. To check progress, click the Reload icon under Actions next to your Sender ID.

  6. Once approved, the Verified checkbox will be ticked.

* Verification can take up to 48 hours after submission.

Info
You’ll need to submit the form separately for each Sender ID you want to send from.

What is a Sender ID?

Sender ID is simply the name or number that appears as the sender when you send an SMS.

You can use either:

  • mobile number (up to 15 digits)

  • text name (up to 11 characters)

  • Note: +614xxxxxxxx and 04xx xxx xxx count as different Sender IDs.
Only the +61 version can receive replies back to your phone.

Why do I need to verify my Sender ID?

Before you can send SMS messages from Arosoftware, each Sender ID you plan to use must be verified.

You’ll need to complete a short online form confirming:

  • Your sender details

  • How you collect SMS permissions from your contacts - eg the Subscribe button on your website forms, etc

  • The types of messages you plan to send

Each form is unique to your account and applies to one Sender ID.
Once approved, your verified Sender ID will automatically be linked to your Arosoftware account.
