If you have created a new video to replace your current website background or home page header video, please ensure your file meets the technical specifications below before sending it to us. Meeting these requirements ensures your video loads quickly and looks great across all devices and screen sizes.
File Format: We accept .mp4, .webm, or .ogg/.ogv files.
Note: If your video is in .mov format, you can still send it to us and our web development team will convert it for you.
Maximum Video Length: 30 seconds. Background videos are meant to be short, looping visual enhancements.
Resolution: Either 720p or 1080p (High Definition) to ensure it does not look blurry on larger screens, whilst also keeping the file size to a minimum.
Aspect Ratio: 16:9 (Widescreen).
Maximum File Size: 12 MB (Megabytes). Keeping the file size small is crucial for fast page loading speeds.
Note: The file size will be managed by our web development team via video compression, quality will be kept as high as possible during this process. The video you send to us to be implemented does not need to be below 12 MB.
Does the 16:9 aspect ratio apply to all videos on my website?
No. The 16:9 aspect ratio requirement only applies to videos being embedded behind feature header sections as backgrounds. It does not apply to standard videos embedded directly within text sections or standard body content.
How do I insert a standard video into a normal text section instead?
If you want to add a standard video (like a product demo, testimonial, or guide) into a text area rather than using it as a background, please refer to our separate guide: Inserting & Embedding a Video into a Web Page.
How do I submit my new background video to you?
Once your video meets the requirements above, please reply directly to your open support ticket or email it to our support team. If the file is too large to email, feel free to send us a secure download link (such as WeTransfer, Google Drive, or Dropbox).
