SMS messaging from an application is a lot more restricted. You are not allowed to send from a mobile number or custom text ID. It has to be from an approved sender shortcode.
Burst SMS has some of these approved shortcodes and will automatically use it for any SMS messages sent to an NZ number.
This means that our NZ customers cannot add their mobile number as a sender ID like our AU customers do so that they receive replies on their mobile as their SMS messages will be sent from an auto assigned shortcode
NZ customers should do the following;
- Setup a sender ID in Aro that will receive replies if an SMS is sent to an Australian number
- Ensure that they include their business name and/or team member name so that the recipient knows who is sending the SMS.
- Ensure that they include a local number that the recipient can reply to should they wish to unsubscribe or continue communication.
