How to add a contact

This guide will step you through the process of creating a new contact in Arosoftware.

How to add a Contact

To start, use the Quick Add icon at the top of the screen and select the 'Add Contact' option

This will open the 'Add Contact' sidebar.

There are minimum requirements to create a contact. These are;
- First name
- Last name
- A contact method (email or phone number)
- Group (you can add a contact to multiple groups, but they need to be in at least one)
- Subscribe (check this box if a contact has agreed to receive communication from you)

Once you have completed these requirements, you are able to save this contact and add it to your database

Show additional fields

There are additional fields you can add when creating a contact. Click the 'Show Extra Fields' button to view these fields. Clicking 'Hide Extra Details' will minimise the form.

These extra fields are;
Source - define how the contact found you
Consultant - the team member who the contact will be linked to
Contact Notes - add a contact note as you are creating the contact
Secondary Contact - add the first & last name of a second contact (eg. partner of contact)

Creating a Lead linked to the Contact

You can also create a lead for this contact directly from the Add Contact form. By checking the 'Automatically create a lead for this contact' box you will see a selector field for a listing (if the lead relates to a specific listing) and a Lead Notes field for lead specific notes.

Using this form to add a lead will automatically link the contact to that lead (as well as a listing if one was selected).

Adding further information to a Contact

This form is designed to quickly add contacts into your database with just basic data required.  However, you are able to add additional information about a contact in Aro.

Some of the additional information you can add;
- Additional phone numbers or email addresses
- Address information
- Company and position details
- Best time to call

To add additional information, you will need to view and edit the contact. Use the Quick Search function to find the contact. Once you are on the Contact Details page, you can edit the contact to see additional fields.
